$7.5 billion.
That is the size of the generative-AI business IBM now reports — the part of its pipeline and customer engagements directly tied to next-generation AI solutions. It’s more than a number; it’s proof that purpose, engineering, and disciplined investment can produce tools that help organizations work smarter, faster, and more responsibly.
Dear IBM Shareholders,
There are moments when an organization’s choices reveal its character — not in press headlines but in the patient work of building capabilities that others rely on. IBM has spent more than a century learning how to turn invention into practical value for business, government, and communities. That long apprenticeship shows in two linked facts we respect deeply: first, IBM’s engineering leadership in enterprise AI and hybrid cloud; second, its commitment to responsible deployment and social impact through its corporate programs and the IBM International Foundation.
Why we added IBM to the BHI50:
1. Real, durable technical leadership. Under Arvind Krishna’s stewardship IBM has doubled down on hybrid cloud, Red Hat integration, and enterprise-grade generative AI. IBM’s public disclosures show an AI book of business now worth more than $7.5 billion — a commercial indicator that customers are adopting IBM’s watsonx and AI services at scale. For investors who want exposure to enterprise AI (not just consumer buzz), that’s a meaningful signal.
2. A habit of building useful things — responsibly. IBM has paired product roadmaps with formal work on responsible AI, privacy, and infrastructure that supports secure operations at the edge and on hybrid clouds. That blend of ethics and engineering reduces execution risk and aligns with the BHI50’s emphasis on organizations that create economic value and social trust.
3. Stewardship and community impact. IBM’s international philanthropy and impact programs (channeled through the IBM International Foundation and IBM’s corporate responsibility work) show how a global technology enterprise can couple scale with social programs. Leaders like Justina Nixon-Saintil oversee corporate giving, skills programs and sustainability initiatives that augment IBM’s commercial efforts with community outcomes.
At the BHI50 we look for enterprises that do three things at once: lead markets, innovate with purpose, and demonstrate stewardship that outlasts quarterly headlines. IBM meets each of those tests. Its engineering investments are creating real customer value today; its governance and CSR programs reflect an organization that takes its broader responsibilities seriously; and its century of evolution gives it unusual durability.
So this holiday season, as we celebrate partnerships and progress, we welcome IBM into the BHI50. We do so because we believe that organizations which build useful, trustworthy tools — and then use their scale to help communities — deserve recognition in portfolios that prize both returns and responsibility.
Visit IBM:
Warm holiday wishes to you and yours.

Ekkehard Bader
IBM Austria
Thirty-five years ago, a gentleman named Ekkehard Bader opened a door that changed the course of my life. He invited me to join the IBM AS/400 Training Center and begin my journey as an Enterprise Resource Planner. That opportunity became the foundation of everything I would later build.
Mr. Bader also used his home as a local Red Cross outpost—a quiet act of service that planted a seed in my mind. It would later inspire the vision of Blue Horizon Beyond AI as a global home for Mother and Child, supported by the collective intelligence of the BHI50 and BHI500, and strengthened by the ingenuity of our AI teams who developed Symbiosis Score AI, the most comprehensive ERP project in the history of IT (EDV), an optimization plan for 500 complementary enterprises to strengthen each, and all.
I once asked Mr. Bader how I could repay him.
He answered simply: “Choose IBM for your future projects.”
Today, with great pride, I fulfil that promise. I announce that the Board of Institutional Investors of BHBAI has added IBM to the BHI50 Index of the Most Intelligent Enterprises in the World, inviting IBM to join Symbiosis Score AI (SS/AI).
I have chosen my favorite shade of blue, IBM’s color, in our symbiotic universe—because without IBM, I might still be sitting in Austria, Germany, or Switzerland, logging my knucklehead moments. With IBM, the world opened for me—from New York to Boracay, and that has led to GREEN, but that's another story.
IBM has always been one of the most synergistic Enterprises on Earth. It taught me the power of openness, the necessity of integration, and the courage to collaborate. Those lessons ultimately became the blueprint for Symbiosis Score AI—the greatest Enterprise Resource innovation of my life—and for Project 1 Humanity, the culmination of everything IBM sparked in me.
Today, IBM stands as the world’s leading Open IT Enterprise, integrating with SAP, Siemens, and now intensifying this synergy across the BHI500 through Symbiosis Score AI, including Google Firebase.
Thank you, IBM, for teaching me how to be open. And welcome to the BHI50, Mr. Bader! This has been the honor of my life.
